Campaign Coordinator–France (Foie Gras Focus)

Duties:

  • Coordinate and manage a campaign plan, timeline and agenda for specific campaigns in France, with a focus on foie gras
  • Advocate PETA France's philosophy to members of the public in order to explain and promote animal rights
  • Represent PETA France at public-speaking engagements, in debates, to media representatives and to the general public
  • Organise and guide activists in planning tabling and leafleting events, organising demonstrations, writing news releases and other activities
  • Establish an activist network by identifying, recruiting and communicating with existing and potential activists throughout France in order to encourage them to become more active for animals
  • Teach activists about the importance of the media as well as how to contact and speak with media representatives in order to ensure effective coverage
  • Maintain records of all activities and communicate regularly with the Vice President of PETA Germany and representatives of PETA US
  • Reply to e-mails and mail
  • Collect resources, props and materials, as needed
  • Arrange for the writing of news releases and provide support to PETA Germany's media officers regarding media requests related to issues and campaigns
  • Track media hits and log them in a database
  • Research campaign-related information for correspondence, publications, action alerts, web features and media materials
  • Ensure the completion of timely, informative letters to the editor
  • Attend campaign meetings in order to brainstorm and develop future campaigns
  • Travel to carry out demonstrations, as needed
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in French and good English skills
  • Activist experience
  • Experience in working on campaigns a plus
  • Public-speaking skills
  • Patience when dealing with activists
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Punctuality and dependability
  • Personable, friendly and positive manner
  • Ability to routinely work evenings and weekends and to travel, as needed
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA France's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA France's positions on issues
  • Commitment to PETA France's objectives
