Office Manager

Position Objective:
To organise and coordinate office operations and procedures in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency

Term of Employment:
Full-time

Reports to:
Manager of Special Projects

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design and implement office policies
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Plan and implement office systems, layout and equipment procurement
  • Help to coordinate printing, delivery, storage and mailing of PETA's printed materials
  • Manage inventory and literature, including forecasting for reprinting
  • Ensure that the office is well maintained and take action when appropriate
  • Oversee office finances, including evaluating and approving staff and office expenses
  • Submit monthly expense reports for the Director of Special Projects and the Manager of Special Projects
  • Work with the payroll company on any personnel changes as well as PETA's annual audit
  • Keep the office running efficiently
  • Maintain office records
  • Handle personnel issues, as needed
  • Handle time-off recordkeeping
  • Organise and book staff travel
  • Conduct orientation for new employees
  • Recruit and manage interns
  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors and guests
  • Liaise with managers and directors at PETA affiliates
  • Assist with other staffers' projects, as needed
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Previous management experience
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
