Online Content Coordinator – Youth

Position Objectives:
To plan and develop content for youth outreach programmes in order to engage UK youth with animal rights issues and PETA's campaigns

Term of Employment:
Full-time

Reports to:
Digital Marketing Manager

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Draft highly shareable and original animal rights content that will engage young people in the UK through PETA's websites and social media accounts
  • Develop projects to increase PETA's influence among young people in the UK
  • Correspond with PETA's young activists
  • Monitor the Web for trends and opportunities to promote animal rights messages to young people in the UK
  • Help run social media accounts with the objective of reaching young people in the UK
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a related field or two years of equivalent experience
  • Previous exceptional writing experience, which may include writing for blogs, newspapers, magazines or other publications
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • A strong understanding of what makes for popular content on the Web and what kinds of content become popular on Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook
  • A demonstrated ability to create content that people want to share
  • Ability to write well and quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Basic image editing skills and a keen eye for what makes a highly sharable image
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
