Web Content Coordinator

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation UK – an affiliate of PETA US, which is the largest animal rights organisation in the world – is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals, educating policymakers and the public about cruelty to animals and promoting an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect. PETA UK and its affiliates work through public education, research, policy initiatives, legislative reform, media campaigns and awareness-raising campaigns.

Position Objective:
To create Web content and e-mail campaigns for PETA and certain international PETA affiliates

Reports to:
Online Marketing Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee the creation of new features, articles and action alerts on PETA UK's website
  • In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by PETA's affiliates:
    • Manage content for the Web properties of PETA UK, PETA Netherlands and PETA France
    • Coordinate troubleshooting of technical problems related to the websites
    • Create content for regular e-news publications of PETA UK, PETA Netherlands and PETA France
    • Suggest and implement best-practice recommendations for search-engine optimisation
    • Work closely with PETA UK's and affiliates' marketing, media and campaign personnel to ensure accuracy of content
    • Track and analyse the success of PETA's international affiliates' online campaigns in order to consistently improve and increase effectiveness and participation
    • Ensure that PETA's international affiliates' online efforts are marketable and up to Web standards
    • Assist with the launching, tracking and analysis of PETA's international affiliates' e-mail efforts
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Web production experience as an editor, writer or producer for a major website or blog
  • Experience with CMS and e-campaigning tools
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA and affiliate campaigns
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of design and the ability to communicate with Web designers effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven excellent project-management, strategic-thinking and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
