Beagles Happy After Barking-Mad Breeding Facility Is Binned

PETA takes its hat off to the East Riding Council for denying the application of B&K Universal (a subsidiary of US-based Marshall Farms) to build an industrial facility for breeding dogs for laboratories. There is no place on UK soil for a mega-corporation that profits off animal suffering – a strong sentiment expressed by more than 2,300 PETA supporters in their letters calling on the council to reject the application. Had B&K succeeded in its plan, thousands of dogs bred at Grimston would have been subjected to experiments here in the UK or faced a frightening ordeal in experiments conducted abroad.

We thank all the compassionate people who took action against the breeding facility and ask that everyone concerned about this proposal also contact the government to urge that weaker European standards governing breeding establishments and animal laboratories are not adopted in the UK, as is currently being considered. Please contact the Home Secretary, to ask her to tighten up the laws on animal testing.

Please also keep an eye on our website for further action alerts, as there is a risk that the farm will appeal the rejection.
