Get Ready for Some Vegetarian Loving!

“Hug a Vegetarian” Day is 24 September, and PETA is encouraging people to flex their arm muscles and get into a hugging mood. It’s a day when we get to wrap our arms around those big-hearted people who have shown they care for animals by refusing to eat them. It’s also an opportunity to proudly celebrate vegetarian and vegan diets, which are better for our health, the environment, the world’s hungry and, of course, all our wonderful furry, feathery and four-legged friends.

Encourage your friends to join in the fun by taking our 30-Day Pledge to Go Veg. In the UK alone, approximately 900 million land animals are killed for their flesh each year. Animals raised on factory farms live short lives in hellish conditions. Crammed into dark and filthy sheds, cages or confinement systems, they are denied the right to raise their young, socialise or do anything else that is natural and important to them. The first time many of these sentient creatures breathe fresh air or feel the sun on their backs is when they are loaded onto trucks and sent to the slaughterhouse, where many of them have their throats cut while they’re still conscious.

So get your hugging arms ready and join us in celebrating “Hug a Vegetarian” Day! Better yet, visit our online shop to get your hands on some of our “Hug a Vegetarian” merchandise and help us spread the proud vegetarian message! For those of you who aren’t vegetarian yet, now’s the time to visit our website to order a free vegetarian/vegan starter kit so that you can start collecting your hugs!

Big vegetarian cuddles from all of us at PETA!
