Glasgow Named Most Vegan-Friendly City

Who says that haggis has to start with, of all things, a sheep’s stomach? Certainly not The 78, The 13th Note or The Bungo Bar & Kitchen – all of which offer meat-free versions of Scotland’s national dish that must be tasted to be believed. They, along with nearly 20 other vegan, vegetarian and vegetarian-friendly restaurants, have made Glasgow PETA’s pick as the Most Vegan-Friendly City in the UK.

Glasgow

Glaswegians should be proud that their hometown is on the cutting edge of healthy cuisine that is Earth- and animal-friendly. Other standout eateries include Mono, where the fresh home-cooked food is free of all animal products; Cherry and Heather, a small café that’s big on delicious vegan selections; and Saramago Café Bar, an indoor-outdoor café and bar that features Mediterranean dishes complemented with its own breads made with organic flour. At Stereo, the stuffed vine leaves with tahini-and-lemon dressing – along with the homemade breads and cakes – will put a smile on the faces of vegans and non-vegans alike. Glasgow also boasts numerous food stores and services that stress healthy meat-free eating. Even the City Council has gotten in on the act by offering schoolchildren free fresh fruit every day through its Fruit Plus programme.

With so many options available, going vegan is easy in Glasgow. But there’s no excuse for the rest of us, either. A vegan diet is better for our health, the environment and, most importantly, animals. Give it a go! Order our free vegetarian/vegan starter kit right now.
