Happy Birthday to Me – Now Please Help Me Get My Name Back!

A few months ago, I changed my name to the catchy StopFortnumAndMasonFoieGrasCruelty.com in protest of department store Fortnum & Mason‘s sales of the hideously cruel food product foie gras. During that time, PETA has had many successes for ducks and geese, including persuading Lord’s Cricket Ground and the National Trust to ditch foie gras. However, I am greatly saddened that Fortnum & Mason continue to fund the force-feeding and killing of these vulnerable birds. So for my birthday, I am asking for your help in getting my old name back!

Firstly, I would like to share a couple of tales from my experiences with my unusual name. The first incident went something like this:

Council member: “Hello. Who am I speaking to?”
Me: “Hello. I’m StopFortnumAndMasonFoieGrasCruelty.com.”
Council member: “No, I mean your real name.”
Me: “Yes, that is my real name.”
Council member: “Is this a joke?”
Me: “No, I’m serious.”
Council member: “Right, let’s just move on.”

I had another amusing incident when asked for ID, which led to all the staff coming over to have a look at my licence and ask, “Is that really your name?!” Nicknames were a bit of a sticking point initially, ranging from “Stop” or “Stoppy” to “.com”, not to mention the well used “Abi—um, I mean SFMFGC.com”! I have to say that I have received overwhelming support for my decision to change my name, and this can only mean good news for birds as people are encouraged to take action. My concern this year is how exactly to fit “StopFortnumAndMasonFoieGrasCruelty.com” into the “Happy Birthday” song! Please help me avoid this problem next year by taking action today to help keep birds from having to die in the foie gras industry.

Please let Fortnum & Mason know how you feel about their support of the barbaric foie gras industry and encourage family and friends to do the same.
