These Londoners Were Offered ‘Dog Meat’. See How They Reacted.

As the summer bank holiday weekend approaches, activists have taken to Trafalgar Square to show that flesh is flesh and that roasting a pig or cow is really no different to grilling a dog or cat.

Whilst the “dog” roasting on the spit was actually made of seitan – a tasty meat alternative made from wheat – the stunt certainly raised concerns from passers-by when they were offered a sample. But if the thought of eating dog meat sends shivers down your spine, why eat the flesh of any animal, since all have the capacity to experience fear and pain?

Whilst cooking a dog would rightly cause outrage in the UK, millions of farmed animals are processed through a horrific system of suffering when they’re raised for the meat industry. Many endure short lives in severely crowded and filthy conditions, and all end up at the abattoir.

If you’re having a barbecue this summer, please help spare animals a lifetime of suffering simply by keeping them off your plate (or barbecue). A big selection of delicious vegan meats you can enjoy are readily available:
