Increased demand for vegan options has opened up a whole new world of delicious animal-friendly dishes at restaurants, pubs, and fast-food chains. We’ve put together our ultimate list of high-street vegan eats – all tried and tested by us!

    Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast, lunch on the go, or a sit-down meal, Benugo cafés and restaurants have you covered. Vegan options include sweet treats like doughnuts and cinnamon swirls as well as savoury delights such as inventive vegan sandwiches and vegetable-led dishes like Yorkshire grilled asparagus with vegan stracciatella cheese, hazelnuts, and a burnt lemon dressing.

  • Caffè Nero

    Tasty meat-free options at Caffè Nero include the THIS Plant-Based “Chicken” Arrabbiata Panini and a vegetable sausage roll with flaky pastry. The chain also offers a selection of vegan snacks and sweet treats – we love the Plant Based Chocolate and Caramelised Biscuit Cheesecake.

  • Costa Coffee

    We love Costa Coffee’s BOSH! Plant-Based Crackin’ Ham and Cheeze Toastie and the sausage bap. Other vegan options in collaboration with BOSH! include the Caramelised Biscuit Rocky Road, Pecan Slice, and Double Chocolate Cookie. And, of course, Costa has a range of drinks that can be made vegan or always come that way, like the refreshing and indulgent Tropical Mango Bubble Frappé.

  • Greggs

    With locations throughout the UK, you’ll never be far from Greggs’ famous vegan sausage roll, introduced by the chain following a PETA petition signed by over 20,000 supporters. You can also grab a delicious vegan sausage breakfast roll or vegan steak bake and enjoy them with a side of southern-fried potato wedges and a glazed ring doughnut. Thank you, Greggs!

  • Leon

    LEON has some fantastic vegan options, including the PETA Vegan Food Award–winning LOVe Burger and a vegan sausage sourdough muffin. The popular takeaway spot also serves lighter options like the Bangin’ Bhaji wrap as well as delectable plant-based sweet treats like dark chocolate and oat and cranberry cookies.

  • Pret A Manger

    Whatever the time of day, Pret has you covered. Breakfast options include the Very Berry Croissant and the Acai & Almond Butter Bowl. For lunch or a light dinner, you can choose from a variety of soups and sandwiches, including the Avo, Olive & Toms Baguette, and Red Thai Veg Soup. There are sweet treats, too, including the Dark Choc & Almond Butter Cookie and the Chocolatey Coconut Bite (which is a PETA office favourite).

  • Starbucks

    In addition to offering plant-based milks for all its drinks, this coffee chain stocks some exciting vegan food options, including the Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich, Spinach and Pea Falafel or Fiery No’Chicken wraps, and a luscious chocolate caramel muffin.

  • Subway

    Subway serves up the flavourful Plant Picante and Meatless Philly, which can both be made vegan – simply ask for non-dairy cheese. You can also build your own sub using a plant patty or plant-based steak base. The popular sandwich chain uses a selection of vegan sauces, including aioli, to spice things up. Leave room for a PETA Vegan Food Award–winning vegan double chocolate cookie. Delish!

    West Cornwall Pasty Co’s vegan steak pasty uses generously seasoned pea protein, achieving the authentic taste of a traditional pasty without harming any animals. The chain’s spicy chickpea rolls are also a must-try. More, please!

    Vegan sushi (including Avo Baby Rolls), the Veggie’Balls Teriyaki Rice’Bowl, Vegetable Fusion Gyoza, and Katsu Curry Stir-Fry Style Udon Noodles are available across the nation at this high-street favourite, and they’re not the only delicious plant-based delights on the menu! The chain’s vegan options are healthy, nutritious, and animal-friendly.

    Ask for the vegan menu at wagamama and you’ll find delicious options for every course, including the Yasai Pad Thai, Vegan “Chicken” Kare Lomen, Kare Burosu Ramen, and the PETA Vegan Food Award–winning Vegatsu. We recommend trying the Bang Bang Cauliflower, King Oyster Mushroom Skewers, or Sticky Vegan “Ribs” to start and the battered Banana Katsu served with miso caramel ice cream for dessert. There are plenty of vegan options on the menu for kids, too!

  • Wasabi

    Whether you’re after something hot or cold, Wasabi’s vegan fare has it all. From an assortment of vegan sushi, bento, and soup to a pumpkin katsu curry and yummy mochi treats, there’s something to satisfy any craving.

  • YO! Sushi

    YO! Sushi’s menu is packed with vegan goodies, which is why it won a PETA Vegan Food Award two years in a row. Favourites include the Squeaky Bean Mock “Duck” Yakisoba, Veggie Dumpling Ramen, Veggie Inari Taco, Chargrilled “Steak” Teriyaki, and Pumpkin Katsu Curry.     Burger King offers vegan nuggets, fries, and the popular Vegan Royale – a crispy “chicken” patty with lettuce and vegan mayo served in a toasted sesame seed bun. Also back with a bang is the Ultimate Bean Burger: a protein-packed black bean patty with a tangy, crunchy bite.

  • Domino’s

    Grab a slice of your favourite pizza from the Domino’s vegan menu. Be impressed by the Plant-Based Peppy-roni’s or Chick’n Winner’s tasty vegan meat toppings, or load up on veggies with the vegan Vegi Supreme. Plus, the moreish Plant-Based Nuggets go perfectly with the vegan garlic and herb dip.

  • Frankie & Benny’s

    Frankie & Benny’s huge vegan range has something for everyone. With vegan BBQ wings, hot dogs, pizzas, pastas, and burgers, you’ll need to make a few visits to try them all. There’s even vegan mac ’n’ cheese topped with soya mince in a delicately spiced tomato sauce. Don’t forget dessert, as choices include the Vegan Choc-Chip Shake and an apple crumble served with plant-based custard.

  • Gourmet Burger Kitchen

    Looking for a vegan loaded burger? Try the Californian, which is topped with vegan cheese, smashed avocado, and mayo, or bite into The Beyond & Cheese, made with a satisfying Beyond Meat patty, vegan cheese, and mayo. Pair this with onion rings or fries and a vegan vanilla milkshake.

  • Honest Burger

    Choose a traditional burger or the Bacon Plant 2.0, featuring a Beyond Meat patty, La Vie bacon, vegan cheese, and “bacon-dusted” shoestring fries served with rosemary-salted chips. Sides include vegan chipotle mayo and onion rings, and there’s a vegan burger on the kids’ menu, too.

  • KFC

    The award-winning vegan chicken burger boasts all the taste of KFC – without any cruelty to chickens. The bespoke Quorn fillet is coated with the brand’s famous 11 herbs and spices and topped with iceberg lettuce and vegan mayo, all sandwiched in a soft glazed bun. Add a side of beans and a corn cobette and you’ve got yourself a meal.

  • McDonald’s

    McDonald’s long-awaited McPlant has a juicy Beyond Meat patty topped with vegan mayo, a slice of melty dairy-free cheese, and the chain’s secret vegan burger sauce. Other options are the Vegetable Deluxe, featuring red pesto veggie goujons, and The Spicy Veggie One wrap. With around 1,300 restaurants across the UK, McDonald’s makes it easier than ever to eat vegan on the go. Want fries or some veggie dippers with that? Go ahead – they’re vegan, too.

  • Nando’s

    From salads to wraps, eating vegan at Nando’s is easy. Try the Spiced Chickpea Pitta or The Great Imitator Wrap: PERi-Plant strips served in a tortilla with plant-based garlic PERinaise, lettuce, and chilli jam. Just add your favourite sides – we love the PERi-Salted Chips and garlic bread. (Yes – they’re also vegan!) Mango or chocolate ice cream is offered for a sweet treat at the end, if you have room.

  • Papa John’s

    Papa Johns was the first national delivery chain to launch vegan cheese pizzas in the UK, and its range keeps growing. Build your own, or choose one of several vegan options– like The Vegan Works with vegan sausage and “pepperoni” or Vegan BBQ “Chicken” with Sheese and BBQ drizzle. Vegan sides include cauliflower wings, nuggets, and potato tots with non-dairy cheese. What better way to finish than with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s Cookies on Cookie Dough vegan ice cream or a portion of Cinnapie Sticks?

  • Pizza Hut Restaurants

    We love Pizza Hut’s vegan stuffed crust and its Vegan Hot ‘N’ Spicy Veg, heaped with vegan cheese, vegetables, and jalapeños. Give us that with a side of plant-based southern fried nuggets to share and the erroneously named I Can’t Believe It’s Not Cheesecake – not only is it cheesecake, it’s the best kind: vegan cheesecake!

  • TGI Fridays

    TGI Fridays offers delicious dishes like a vegan burger featuring a Future Farm patty with a grilled flat cap mushroom and Applewood cheese or nachos with vegan chicken pieces, guacamole, and fresh salsa. Don’t miss the potato skins loaded with plant-based bacon pieces and smoky vegan cheese, served with avocado and lime or Meatless Frank’s RedHot Strips for a little extra.

  • Wimpy

    Long-running burger chain Wimpy has been serving plant-based bean burgers since 1986. Its latest addition is simply called the Beyond Meat and contains a juicy patty, iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, red onions, and a dollop of vegan mayo. Choose the Wimpy Chips or onion rings for your side.

  • All Bar One

    All Bar One’s vegan burger is stacked high with a succulent Meatless Farm patty, Violife cheese, jalapeños, and a tomato and coriander salsa. The chain’s brunch menu boasts a vegan breakfast of scrambled tofu with spinach, vegan sausages, tomato and chickpea stew, roasted mushroom, avocado, and beetroot hash. For lunch, grab a quesadilla packed with pulled Oumph!, a melty slice of Violife mature vegan cheese, and avocado, pea, and coriander chutney, or try the tasty Nourish Bowl with crispy cauliflower bites and spicy corn “ribs” on the side. To finish, try the Caramel Biscuit Torte.

  • Beefeater

    Beefeater’s Plant Stack burger, featuring a Garden Gourmet patty, is topped with Violife cheese and THIS bacon rashers and served with a side of fries and slaw. You can also try the chargrilled vegetable skewer, seasoned with the brand’s ’74 BBQ rub and served with skinny fries on a stone-baked flatbread. If Sunday lunch is your thing, ask for the vegan No-Chicken Roast smothered in gravy with all the trimmings. Room for dessert? Try the Chocolate Layer Torte topped with raspberry sauce and paired with vegan vanilla ice cream.

  • Brewers Fayre

    Start with Battered Cauliflower Bites then choose from a vegan burger in a brioche-style bun or the Cheeze and Onion Pie served with skin-on-chips, peas, and a jug of gravy. The delectable Chocolate Layer Torte with raspberry sauce makes for the perfect dessert.

  • Cosy Club

    Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or a three-course meal, Cosy Club’s vegan menu has you covered. Options include a vegan shakshuka with crispy chickpeas, a vegan cheeseburger, massaman cauliflower curry, and a plant-based baked cheesecake to finish.

  • Flaming Grill

    At Greene King’s Flaming Grill pubs, you’ll find dishes such as Spicy Mexican Enchiladas, a Beyond Burger, and vegan nachos. Save some space, though, because the menu also features a warm Bramley apple pie with vegan ice cream.

  • Harvester

    Start with a sharing plate of vegan nachos or by tucking into the famous unlimited salad bar before moving on to dishes such as Chilli Non Carne or The Beyond Dirty burger, topped with a melted Cathedral City vegan cheese slice and BBQ sauce. You could even start your day with a Harvester vegan fry-up. Finish with the tasty Vegan Sundae Best or Bramley Apple Pie.

  • Hungry Horse

    Hungry Horse has vegan options available at over 280 pubs across the UK. They include delights such as the Beyond Meat Stack burger, mushroom and ale pie, and roast vegetable lasagne. There is even a vegan fish and chip option featuring Omni fishless fillets served with mushy peas. To satisfy your sweet tooth, try the apple and berry crumble or indulgent chocolate torte.

  • Loungers

    Ask for the vegan menu at this relaxed café-and-bar chain. It has a wide selection of plant-based options, including a vegan bacon butty, full English, Beyond Meat Cheeseburger, tasty salad bowls, small plates for tapas, and an extremely tempting vegan carrot cake. Try the Chocolate and Raspberry Torte, which won Best Dessert in the PETA Vegan Food Awards.

  • Marston’s

    Marston’s bagged a PETA Vegan Food Award for its vegan offering back in 2018, and it’s easy to see why. Menus vary from pub to pub, but may feature tempting dishes like a Future Farm burger with vegan cheese and burger sauce, bang bang cauliflower, and crispy chicken-style strips. Desserts include a warm chocolate brownie served with chocolate and blood orange ice cream.

  • Premium Country Pubs

    Premium Country Pubs’ venues offer a full vegan menu with a choice of several starters and mains – try the roasted celeriac steak with parsnip puree, caramelised shallots, exotic mushrooms, and pesto or the plant-based burger with vegan cheese, red pepper, and tomato sauce. Finish it all off with the vanilla poached pear with coconut sorbet and chocolate sauce. Yum!

  • Sizzling Pubs

    Vegan options include a cooked breakfast, vegan sausage bap, gobi dhansak, and sizzling vegan ribs in a sticky BBQ sauce, served on a bed of vegetables. For dessert, check out the lemon and raspberry mousse served with raspberry sauce and fresh strawberries.

  • Slug & Lettuce

    Slug & Lettuce has some standout vegan dishes on its menu – including the plant-based breakfast, Plant Power Sandwich, and Vegan Sheese Burger. Share some “picky plates”, such as roasted patatas bravas, crispy teriyaki tofu, and red pepper and sesame houmous. You can also count on the chain for some tasty sweet treats, such as the Salted Caramel Cheezecake Bites with a much-loved Lotus Biscoff sauce or Millionaire’s Brownie Bites served with chocolate and a salted caramel sauce.

  • Stonegate Crafted Social Pubs

    Stonegate pubs have one of the best vegan menus out there, with lots of choice including a full cooked breakfast, tacos, pizza, burgers, cauliflower wings, and indulgent baked cookie dough for dessert.

  • Table Table

    Table Table’s menu of pub classics includes several vegan options, such as Vegan Cheezeburger Topped Fries, the GARDEN GOURMET Sensational Burger with vegan cheese, and a chocolate torte for dessert.

  • Vintage Inns

    Start with a portion of beetroot and pumpkin seed arancini followed by a butternut squash and chickpea burger, or for a lighter option, order a roasted vegetable wrap with a side salad. This chain also offers a root vegetable Wellington, which can be served vegan, on its Sunday menu. To finish, the apple and blackberry crumble can also be served vegan.

  • Wetherspoon

    You’ll find a Wetherspoon on almost every high street. Its vegan menu includes bao buns, Beyond Meat burgers, curries, Quorn nuggets, a BBQ jackfruit panini, pizzas, and “fish” and chips. For breakfast, try the vegan fry-up.

  • Ask Italian

    Get Italian with this impressive selection of pizzas and pasta dishes. Have a big appetite? Add vegan dough bites, bruschetta, folded garlic bread, and THIS Isn’t Chicken goujons. End on a sweet and tangy note with the Blood Orange and Chocolate Tart or opt for the nutty, zingy Pistachio and Raspberry Tart.

  • Bella Italia

    From start to finish, there is plenty of choice at Bella Italia. Ask for a side of vegan meatballs or “mozzarella” on your garlic bread and then choose from a variety of pizzas or pasta dishes. Make sure you leave room for the vegan cookie dough or coconut gelato. Che bella!

  • Franco Manca

    At Franco Manca, there are vegan specials every day and you can choose Violife cheese instead of mozzarella for any pizza. Finish with chocolate and blood orange or salted caramel ice cream.

  • Pizza Express

    This popular high-street brand has lots of tempting vegan dishes. Starters include its famous vegan dough balls and garlic bread with vegan cheese, and among the many vegan pizzas are the award-winning Vegan Giardiniera and the Vegan ad Astra (with Quorn, sweet red peppers, and Cajun spice). A sorbet or its luscious frosted stem ginger cake is the perfect way to end this meal.

  • Prezzo

    At Prezzo, Italian food lovers can go for the rigatoni arrabbiata or vegan spaghetti bolognese or create their own vegan pizza with dairy-free cheese and their favourite toppings – including vegan chicken, “pepperoni”, and lots of veggies. Make sure you leave room for the Lotus Biscoff cheesecake!

  • Zizzi

    Zizzi’s options include its Rustica Vegan Harissa “Meatball” pizza and hearty lentil ragù. Pair either option with the brand’s garlic bread or vegan meatballs. You also can’t go wrong with the Vegan Rainbow Lasagne, with butternut squash, beetroot, red onion, and spinach. Sweet treats include the irresistible Zillionaire’s Fudge Cake: a warm chocolate fudge cake layered with a salted caramel sponge and finished with honeycomb pieces. Take THAT, fruit salad!

  • Bill’s Restaurant & Bar

    Bill’s carries a good selection of delicious and filling vegan options. For breakfast, try the Plant Plate with scrambled OGGS. Dinner options include a Dirty Vegan Burger or plant-based curry with soya chunks. Finish off with the chocolate and salted caramel tart served with coconut ice cream.

  • Chiquito

    This Mexican restaurant chain is taking vegan food to the Mex level with its excellent offerings. Its vegan menu includes jackfruit tacos, loaded wedges, and enchiladas. Try the Oumph! plant-based chicken and roasted veg fajita, and finish with the white chocolate and passion fruit tart served with vegan vanilla ice cream.

  • Côte Brasserie

    This French restaurant offers a full vegan breakfast with a mushroom patty, sautéed rosemary potatoes, and smashed avocado. The à la carte menu offers a vegan burger with truffle mayonnaise, caramelised red onion, and fries as well as a mushroom bourguignon – slow-cooked mushrooms in a red wine sauce – with vegan bacon, carrots, and potato purée. The triple-cooked truffle chips are also vegan, as is the chocolate salted caramel tart.

  • Giraffe

    Giraffe’s vegan menu presents a plant-based take on favourites from around the globe. Highlights include the vegan versions of its Japanese katsu curry and Thai duck stir fry as well as its Rodeo, Classic Cheese or California burgers. Finish with a warm chocolate fudge cake with vegan vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.

  • Las Iguanas

    If tapas and fajitas are your thing, Las Iguanas is the place for you. Its vegan menu comprises dishes such as a Bahian jackfruit curry, Fiesta Ensalada, nachos with vegan cheese, mushroom fajitas, and a coconut panna cotta. You’ll have to specify you want the vegan versions of certain items. Pass the patatas, please.

  • Turtle Bay

    This growing Caribbean chain with over 50 locations across the UK offers a wide range of vegan options from jerk “chicken” to a vegan Caribbean katsu curry. Try the Sweetcorn Roti Wrap or a vegan fried chicken burger with a side of spiced fries, then sweeten things up with the Caramelised Rum Plantain to close.

  • Wahaca

    Wahaca is working on its planet-friendly choices and has a dedicated vegan menu with delicious dishes such as nachos, tostadas, and quesadillas. Choose from “chicken”, plantain, or mushroom tacos. For dessert, try the churros served with vegan chocolate sauce.

    This growing chain of dessert parlours boasts an impressive array of vegan options, including its Lotus Biscoff waffle, cookie dough brownie with vanilla ice cream, sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate and pistachio cookie dough, sundaes, and a banana and toffee milkshake.

  • Krispy Kreme

    Available for delivery and collection, Krispy Kreme keeps the vegan flavours coming. Luscious options include chocolate custard, strawberry iced ring, and original glazed doughnuts.

  • Lola’s Cupcakes

    Choose from a heady variety of vegan cakes, cupcakes, and brownies. You’ll be spoilt for choice with options like a luscious brownie cake, Victoria sponge, and caramel biscuit cake. Cupcakes come in irresistible flavours like the red velvet raspberry and passion fruit, and brownies include vegan Black Forest and chocolate orange.
