Want to feel virtuous this Lent? Forget giving up chocolate or alcohol – going vegan is the most powerful pledge you can make. Cutting animal products out of your diet is good for your body and soul: it will benefit your health and make your lifestyle more compassionate as you stop supporting industries that exploit and kill animals.

So take this win-win decision and sign our vegan Lent pledge today. We’ll offer you help and support along the way, and you’ll be experiencing the benefits of being vegan in no time – in fact, after 40 days, you probably won’t want to stop!

As an added bonus, here’s a scrumptious vegan pancake recipe to kick-start your resolution – you certainly won’t miss those artery-clogging animal fats with these guilt-free Shrove Tuesday treats.

PETA’s Vegan Pancakes

1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp baking powder
Pinch salt
1 cup soya milk
2 Tbsp vegetable oil

  • Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Mix in the soya milk and oil and, with an electric mixer or wire whisk, beat just until the batter is smooth.
  • Measure 1/2 cup batter onto a hot, oiled pan. When bubbles appear on the upper surface of the pancake (in about 2 minutes), lift with a spatula and flip the pancake. Cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from the pan and keep it warm while you make the remaining pancakes.
  • Serve warm with golden syrup, fresh fruit, jam or any other tasty topping that takes your fancy!
