PETA Invites the Queen to Adopt Her Next Corgi

Our heartfelt sympathies to The Queen. Losing a companion animal can be heartbreaking.

Monty, who passed away earlier this week, was the oldest of the royal pups, and for 13 years, he lived a truly enviable life. He lived with Her Highness in London, enjoyed trips to Balmoral and even had a starring role in the Olympics opening ceremony.

Thousands of dogs, including many corgis, are much less fortunate than Monty was and are currently languishing in animal shelters across the country, all in desperate need of loving homes. The situation is so desperate that in 2010, it was reported that 17 RSPCA animal centres could no longer take in stray and abandoned animals.

Should The Queen choose to open her heart and home to a new dog, saving a life by adopting from a local shelter would set a compassionate example for Britons and encourage others to adopt rather than perpetuating the overpopulation crisis by buying from breeders.

But you don’t need to be The Queen to offer a dog a “happily ever after”, if you’re thinking about bringing an animal into your home, please adopt – never buy!
