In little more than a thin layer of bodypaint, Sarah-Jane Honeywell – eight months pregnant, no less – has fearlessly taken to the centre of London with an important proclamation: “Vegan – for Animals, My Health, the Planet and Future Generations”.

vegan living“I’m vegan because I want to tread lightly on this Earth so that others – hopefully my son’s own son or daughter – will be able to enjoy it, too”, says the mother-to-be. “I also want to be healthy, strong and energetic for my son and I can do that simply by choosing plant-based meals.”

According to the United Nations, raising animals for food is “a top contributor to the most serious environmental problems” – including climate change – “at every scale from local to global”. Going vegan is the single most important thing that we can do to protect the planet. It’s also a great way to reduce the risk of developing heart disease, cancer, strokes, diabetes and obesity. Oh, and on top of those benefits, you’ll also help save hundreds of animals from a life of terror.

It’s becoming more and more popular every day, and as a result, vegan options abound in restaurants, in supermarkets and on the high street. So, what are you waiting for?
