Save Choupette! Karl Lagerfeld Is the Grim Reaper of Fashion

An activist dressed as a larger-than-life Karl Lagerfeld descended on Fendi’s 90th-anniversary Haute Fourrure fashion show in Rome today to protest the fashion house’s love affair with fur.

The action highlighted how Fendi’s long-time creative director is the Grim Reaper to animals, doling out violent death sentences for tacky, vulgar fur.

All fur is a product of torture and misery, and on fur farms, many intelligent wild animals are driven insane during their short lives by wretched conditions before facing gruesome, painful and terrifying deaths by methods that include vaginal or anal electrocution, gassing and poisoning.

Lagerfeld is willing to put a fox or mink through all that just for a coat, so it makes us wonder how his beloved cat Choupette would feel if she knew.

You Can Help

Unlike fashion dinosaur Lagerfeld, many top designers – including Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood and Tommy Hilfiger – have gone completely fur-free. There are so many stylish and luxurious faux-fur garments on the catwalks and high street these days that there’s no excuse for wearing or selling the skin of tortured animals.

Tell your friends and family about the fur industry, and please, if you ever see fur for sale, speak out.
