Say (Vegan) Cheese!

We’ve all heard it – “I’d love to go vegan, but I just couldn’t give up cheese”. Well, thanks to all the fab vegan cheese products around today, you don’t have to!

The world of dairy-free cheese is rapidly expanding, and the even better news is that vegan cheese products contain only a fraction of the fat found in animal-derived cheese but can be equally delicious. Added satisfaction comes from the fact that no animals were harmed in its making – no baby calves were ripped away from their mothers, and no female cows were forced to become pregnant, over and over again, before being killed and turned into cheap meat.

Here in the PETA office, we’ve been enjoying samples of Vegusto‘s No-Moo Cheese Sauce. It’s lovely and creamy, just like a traditional Béchamel sauce, but contains zero cruelty. It’s versatile, too, and quick to cook with. These are the scrumptious dishes that the PETA crew came up with:

Peter’s Very Yummy Vegan Lasagne  Vegan Lasagne Kirsty’s Perfect Penne Pasta Vegan Penne

Anne’s Creamy Cauliflower Cheese Creamy Vegan Cauliflower Cheese

Dan’s Ham-Free Hawaiian Pizza   Vegan Pizza

Elisa’s ‘Cheese’ and Spinach Paratha   'Cheese' and Spinach Paratha

Mimi’s Moreish Cheesy Courgette Risotto   Vegan Risoto

We’ve also heard that it makes a mean topping for nachos. And if you’re eating out, try bringing a packet of vegan cheese along and asking the chef at the restaurant to “veganise” one of the pizzas on the menu.
