Sharon Osbourne Exposes Cruel Chinchilla Fur Trade

Posted by 10 months ago | Permalink | Comments (37)

From starring in the popular reality TV show The Osbournes to howling with laughter with Louis Walsh on The X Factor, Sharon Osbourne has never been one to shy away from expressing her opinion. Now, she’s taking a stand against the cruel chinchilla fur trade with PETA US.

In spite of once wearing fur, Sharon has since sworn off the stuff after realising that each purchase costs animals their lives.

Chinchillas are sensitive, intelligent animals who can live for up to 15 years in the wild, but when raised on fur farms, they’re deprived of everything natural and meaningful to them. They live in filthy, crowded cages for their entire lives before either their necks are broken or they’re electrocuted. “Toe-to-ear” electrocution immobilises chinchillas but leaves them conscious as they experience all the pain of a full-blown heart attack.

Around 80,000 chinchillas are farmed for fur across Europe, and many more are globally. Please, don’t support this cruel industry! Never buy items made from real fur, and speak out against retailers that sell it.

Thank you Linda for speaking my thoughts and often my loud spoken words! So many people wear fur and furry handbags! More well known people should speak up. Alex Jones on the One Show, I noticed, was wearing a fur jacket. Real fur tends to have a silky flow to it as opposed to fake fur. I hope one day, I can carry small cards with me that I can hand out to people who wear fur!

    • Janet Grover commented on February 7, 2016 at 1:36 pm

Why do we have to be so cruel. Please everyone stop wearing fur.

The fur and meat industry is cruel and barbaric. They are savagely torturing sentient animals on a daily basis. I am glad Sharon Osborne has offered her support to PETA and it fighting against these barbaric practices of murder!

  • jean coghlan commented on January 27, 2016 at 8:33 pm

All cruelty to animals should be stopped straight away, it’s horrible and cruel , I don’t know how people can be so un emotional when doing these inhumane acts to animals, they must not have a conscience at all , I don’t know how they live with themselves

  • Jutta Mustakallio commented on February 7, 2016 at 11:43 am

    Chapeau Sharon Osbourne!

Ban the fur trade now. Barbaric, cruel, sadistic behaviour. ” The greatness of a nation is seen how it treats its animals” (not these words but similar, Mahatma Gandhi) And others who are in a minor position towards humans.

  • Michelle bailey commented on February 7, 2016 at 11:53 am

I have been an advocate for animals for as long as I can remember. Without humans in the picture nature and the animal population would thrive. I do not believe in wearing fur and I hate the fact that I do eat meat and I know the suffering that animals go through as they are sent to slaughter and I wish I could become a vegetarian but that I can’t change now so instead I donate to charities, volunteer at my local rspca and sign petition’s. Animal cruelty needs to stop now before its to late.

  • sue commented on February 7, 2016 at 12:04 pm

Disgusting fur farms. I kept showed and bred chinchillas for pets to careful homes.
They are clever and like space special food and dust baths.
The parents stay together to raise the young and carry them for a long time before giving birth to perfect little replicas. People should not be wearing them it takes a lot of little lives to make a jacket. So wrong

  • Patricia Wicker commented on February 7, 2016 at 1:31 pm

OMG!! THIS TERROR ON ANIMALS MUST STOP!!!
    CRUEL CRUEL CRUEL!!!

  • Debra Tuffs and friends commented on February 7, 2016 at 1:39 pm

The way we treat animals is vile, disgusting and immoral, especially the despicable abuse that takes place on fur farms in order that people can wear a fashion garment. In the 21st Century we have enough technology to produce fake fur which looks just as nice. Stop this archaic and brutal industry..please, for the sake of the animals.
