Thank FCUK! French Connection Listens to YOU, Drops Angora

Posted by 2 years ago | Permalink | Comments (132)

JUST IN: French Connection has announced that it is ending the use of angora in the production of its clothing and accessories with immediate effect. This is wonderful news for rabbits, and for everyone who believes in compassionate fashion! French Connection angora victory This victory comes after more than 100,000 compassionate people flooded the store with emails, tweets and Facebook messages asking it to stop supporting cruelty to rabbits, who often have the hair torn from their bodies as they scream in pain on Chinese angora farms.

“As a fashion brand we are responsive to our customers and to trends in the market” French Connection says in a statement on its website. With this move, the company is at last joining ASOS, All Saints, Mango, Tommy Hilfiger, Stella McCartney and other global fashion brands who have committed to a permanent ban on cruel angora.

Thank you to everyone who helped with this campaign, and persuaded FCUK to do the right thing!

If you see angora on sale anywhere else, please speak out and ask the store to remove it. Today’s news proves yet again that your voice makes a difference – and that the tide has truly turned against products made from the hair of bleeding rabbits who scream in pain when they’re live plucked or roughly sheared. With your help, we’ll soon make sure angora is banished from British high streets altogether!

  • slava commented on October 16, 2014 at 3:00 pm

I will never thank you for what you use to do to these poor innocent animals. The fact that you ceased your angora fur operations is only the result of mass internet protests. It is the activists and protestors that I thank not you.

  • Sue cotton commented on October 16, 2014 at 3:04 pm

what on Earth is wrong with the fashion industry? Full of promises to become ethical and not use angora, as soon as you think customers have forgotten, you resume! How the hell can you justify the cruelty involved? This is worse than the fur industry and that’s saying something! These bunnies are tortured over and over again whilst the fur is ripped from their tied down little bodies. I think this is disgraceful and as far as I am concerned your products will no longer be purchased by me.

  • Jo commented on October 16, 2014 at 4:23 pm

It’s great news that fcuk have dropped the use of angora but oh so sad that it requires such pressure (thankfully applied) to embarass them into action. Why can’t commerce be about simple, ethical, responsible service instead of the bottom line, fcuk could do both and still keep there shareholders happy, but let’s not get everyone (me!) started on the whole greed debate…let us instead celebrate:

One small step for rabbits, one giant leap for rabbit-kind….at least for a few hundred, temporarily!

    The fight continues….

Omg! Why must we continue to hurt and make these poor animals suffer for our own selfish needs? These are things that are not needed for us to survive!! You know what is sick is murders get better treatment towards death then these poor helpless animals I only hope when you go to hell they do this to your flesh! So you can feel every bit of pain and suffer you did to these poor animals. Sorry I’m so upset and can’t stand seeing any animal hurt or in pain.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop the barbaric and inhumane trade that goes in to providing you with Angora wool, have you seen the means by which the fur is taken from these rabbits, terrified and in EXTREME pain, they are left in total shock and reeling with pain after their “process” it would be better if they were dead than to be subjected to this utter senseless torture all for YOUR profits, watch the video that show how these poor creatures are hung upside down and plucked of their fur, listen to their terrified screams, and see the utter shock they are in when they are shoved back into wire empty cages with no pain relief, comfort, food or water all for YOUR profits, them imagine this scenario, you suspended from a ceiling knowing whats coming next, someone comes over to you and starts to tear your hair out with their bare hands, they do this until you are completely bald, bleeding and in shock you are shoved in a cage as I described above where you spend your days waiting until your hair grows back, when its long enough they come back for you, time after time after time until one day you just die, other companies have stopped this trade, well know, well respected companies, how about you join them, or does FC only stand for shallow “fashion” and profits???

I really don’t trust them to keep their word and won’t shop there again until they have abandoned angora for at least 5 years (oh – and I sold my shares – which were actually worth virtually nothing compared to what I paid for them – so I’m not the only one who is disgusted with them)

FCUK can FCUK off. They lied, they knew exactly what was happening and they chose to ignore it hoping that it would just go away. They placated their customers only as far as they needed to before getting right back onto animal torture for profit.

FCUK doesn’t need congratulating. This disgusting company and brand would have carried on exactly what it was doing if it could have gotten away with it, and that is not the kind of company anyone should be supporting, even after they have been FORCED into being ethical and moral Humans.

There are HUMANS involved in these decisions, people who consciously made the choice to carry on doing this. They need to be exposed and outed. We need to know the name of the person or persons who made this gross decision so that other companies know to avoid them. You cannot simply make a decision like this and then expect to not be held accountable in your career.

BTW FCUK, you need to bring in an entirely new Public Relations team who actually KNOW what they’re doing.

These people are ignorant and stupid to do this. Change the rules and treat rabbits with gentleness.

This is to upsetting to watch so i cant watch the videos, but i no what goes on. I am a rabbit owner and lover of lionheads and 1 angora girl! My rabbits are my life they are gentle, kind loving and very very intelligent to see rabbits go through this torture is actually to much to bare. Rabbits should live a life of freedom to run and play and share their life with a companion. These poor rabbits wont no grass fresh veg, freedom or happiness; this sickens me to my stomach. Rabbits are very misunderstood they have individual personalities just like a cat or dog they feel pain, suffering, happiness and other emotions just like we do! My rabbits are like dogs i call there name on a night they come into the garage into their cage they no like I’ve said very intelligent creatures! To turn these amazing little animals into fashion is disgusting every single person who uses, sells or agrees with this vile torture deserves to die and go through this pain and suffering just like these poor rabbits have its as simple as that! I would rather skin myself than have any form of animal fur especially rabbit touch my skin!!!

how these poor rabbits survive this torture is beyond me. They have such delicate skin and can tear at the slightest nick. I am surprised they don’t die of shock which I am sure a lot do which is a release for them, to go through this torture is unbearable but the good news is farmers are having stock piles of angora that nobody wants now so tough on them. But don’t blame all Chinese people as I run a support group for the Animals Asia Foundation and many many Chinese people hate animal cruelty and there are now 100 animal welfare groups set up in China run by the Chinese and they campaign regularly on the streets which a few years ago was unheard of. A bon entendeur, merci, IM

    Good Afternoon’
Want are mankind coming too’ if things carry on like they are at this moment’ it will mean the end of this amazing animal.
Come on guys’ work along side of each other’ writing to various companies who are behind this type of KILLING & if we all just put our heads into sand’ it will be our fault as well’ even if we were no where near to the factory where the animals are killed’ with their fur being used to make a scarf or any other item the human race work can do one thing to end the brutal way of stopping it for good.

Please if you find any photographs in your local News-Papers’ cut them out and send as much s you can afford to your local MP & their parties. Make sure the information will shock them into fighting for the right’ the animals have to live.

I can know..what you just let’ s know…how this horrible shame is done on these rabbits..and this cruelty going on not only in one nation in the world..Have to stop this sufference before it become too great also thinking to consequences. Don’ close our eyes and our minds…these rabbits have a hearth, they are trying to live and this is their skin. This practice is diffused also in other countries..try to explain…try to let them understand…even if I know that too many people don’ understand..Stand up our voice…maybe someone will listen to. Those who want make their profits on this shame are too many…don’ let them go on. Only a few minutes to read the words..time to speak and time to understand.

  • Ashley Bambrough commented on November 16, 2014 at 2:44 am

Thank you for raising awareness of this terrible practice. To wear clothes sourced through the mistreatment of innocent, defenceless animals, is to embrace horrendous abuse! In the 21st century we should know better. All of this should have been cast aside a long, long time ago! Human cruelty towards animals is a cowardly, ignorant act, committed by cold and heartless, individuals for financial gain! To lack awareness of the pain and suffering that is being inflicted on these poor creatures, is truly shocking and extremely worrying!
