Vegan pub fare is available everywhere in the UK. Long gone are the days when a vegan meal down the local meant a handful of peanuts or a plate of chips. More and more British pubs are meeting the growing demand for healthy plant-based meals.

We’ve searched the UK high and low for the top 10 pubs with the best selection of vegan dishes. Here are our favourites. Why not stop in tonight?

The Globe Inn has everything you need for a terrific night out. It offers patrons many mouth-watering options, such as spicy Mexican chilli served with a side of roasted parsnip chips, fragrant samosas or seasoned curly fries, as well as more than 20 scrumptious flavours of vegan ice cream for dessert, making the perfect accompaniment to the indulgent chocolate fudge cake.

Vegan Sunday roast – need we say more? The Coach and Horses is a vegetarian pub that offers an impressive array of vegan options, including favourites such as the signature Tofush and Chips. It even holds a weekly piano sing-along!

The Gardener’s Arms has hearty food to suit your every mood. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can order its Medley Mushroom Pie or Indian Thali Platter, and if it’s classic pub grub you’re after, look no further than its vegan burger or hot dog.

An independent music venue that also hosts comedy, art and theatre, The 13th Note serves mostly vegan dishes and beer, with a few vegetarian options. In addition to crispy gnocchi and falafel burgers, this pub also offers vegan sticky toffee pudding. Yum!

The Railway Hotel is a vegan and vegetarian pub, well known for its live music and delicious vegan food. It offers many mouth-watering options, such as the “fish” and chips – served with a pea purée and homemade tartar sauce – and freshly made authentic Italian pizzas with a long list of toppings that includes vegan sausage and bacon. Sweet dessert offerings include a rich mint-chocolate “cheesecake” and a zingy apple and rhubarb calzone.

The Wheatsheaf is an award-winning vegan-friendly pub in Thornbury. With an exciting, varied menu featuring moreish choices such as Funky Falafels served with giant couscous, roasted vegetables, creamy houmous and coleslaw or the hearty Big Burrito loaded with butternut squash, spiced rice and guacamole and served with spicy Cajun wedges, you can always find something satisfying to pair with a pint.

In addition to offering delicious vegan food, the Brick Kilns is a bed and breakfast. On your weekend away, treat yourself to flavourful Leek & Mushroom au Gratin in a white wine sauce or a beautifully seasoned Nut Goulash with onions, mushrooms and chopped tomato.

The British Oak boasts a beautiful beer garden and multiple rooms for sitting and catching up with friends. Its vegan fare includes beer-battered “fish” with homemade chips, a rich soya mince and vegetable cottage pie and a veggie breakfast served with fluffy tofu scramble.

The Veggie Red Lion is a favourite for vegans nationwide. Its starters include Moroccan Hummus & Pitta Bread, Red Lentil Dahl and Flatbread and Red Lion Spring Rolls. For those with a sweeter tooth, the dessert menu offers a delectable Bramley Apple & Almond Crumble as well as a rich and decadent Dark Chocolate & Raspberry Torte.

Nestled on the edge of the Chilterns, the Flowing Spring offers mouth-watering vegan options such as the Spicy Hippy Burger – made with chickpeas, squash and crunchy sunflower seeds – and a variety of vegan ice creams. The pub garden is also a favourite for local wildlife, as deer, badgers, kestrels, woodpeckers and kingfishers all reportedly stop by.
