Ellie Goulding and Professor Green aren’t just two of the UK’s hottest music acts – they’re also proud vegetarians who don’t hesitate to let others know about the benefits of meat-free eating, which is music to our ears. That’s why we’ve named them the UK’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2015.

Goulding is quick to credit her vegetarian lifestyle with giving her an athletic physique, saying that since giving up meat, “my body’s different, my skin is different, my face shape is different and my eyes are brighter too”.

Her Instagram is full of photos of delicious plant-based foods, both home-cooked and picked up on the go, and the “Love Me Like You Do” singer also let the world know that the coat she wears on the cover of her newly dropped album, Delirium, is faux fur.

Professor Green first shared his decision to go vegetarian on Twitter, citing numerous documentaries and naming grime artist Jme as his vegan inspiration. He added, “[I]t’s not just the saturated fat that kills us, [i]t’s the damage animal agriculture causes the environment”.

Since then, the chart-topping rapper has continued to share how delicious meat-free meals can be, posting photos of dishes like stir-fried veggies with quinoa, green juices, chickpea curry, veggie burgers and more on his social media accounts.

In addition to helping save many animals every year from the horrors of the abattoir, vegans and vegetarians are less prone to developing cancer, obesity and diabetes than meat-eaters are. They also have a lower carbon footprint. These are just some of the reasons why millions of British people (including 20 per cent of 16- to 24-year-olds, according to the research group Mintel) have chosen to ditch animal-derived foods.
