Spectacular Goat, Warwick and the Midlands

The family behind this street food truck uses a custom wood-fired oven to cook sourdough pizzas to order. The menu is seasonal and focuses on top-quality ingredients. Vegans are well catered for here, as proven by a recent experience involving dairy-free cheese, butternut squash purée, sliced pear, pine nuts and rocket. Delicious!

Bacco Lounge, Regent Street, Rugby

The Bacco Lounge in Rugby is a beautifully refurbished old department store with floor-to-ceiling windows. The separate vegan menu features brunch as well as tapas, paninis and burgers with toppings. The cocktails are fabulous, and the bar also stocks vegan wine.

Coventry Hummus House, Market Way, Coventry If you love falafel, go and see the experts at Hummus House. Everything is freshly made in front of you by the wonderful, friendly staff. You can get a delicious hot wrap filled with falafel, hummus, salad, pickles and chilli sauce for £3. The fresh cinnamon-and-ginger tea makes a perfect complement. Noodle Bar, Bull Yard, Coventry This authentic Chinese restaurant is popular for its big bowl meal deal. Create your own vegan feast by choosing from a list of cooking styles, sauces, soups and toppings. Try tofu, mixed vegetables and cashew nuts with rice noodles in soup. The Chinese tea served in a traditional teapot is lovely. Fresh Rootz, Ryton, Coventry and the Midlands This food truck sells vegetarian and vegan world street food. Its pakoras scooped the Best Snack Award at the British Street Food Awards 2013. Wraps, curries, tagines, raw salads and soups all feature on its menu. Look out for the truck at Fargo Village on one of the street-food days.

Playwrights, Hay Lane, Coventry

This café bar and bistro serves traditional home-cooked food. Vegans are well looked after with a substantial three-course menu. It’s well situated on a picturesque cobbled street, a stone’s throw from the old Coventry cathedral. Outdoor seating makes it a lovely place to hang out in the summer.

Cafe EGO, Silver Street, Coventry

This new vegetarian and vegan venture is part of the EGO Performance Centre, a buzzing community group involved in theatre, music and comedy. The café serves salads, sandwiches, salads, vegan ice cream and cakes.

Las Iguanas, Livery Street, Leamington Spa

This Mexican restaurant has a great atmosphere and an open kitchen. There’s a terrific vegan selection on the menu and two-for-one cocktails between 9 and 11 pm. Try the three mushroom fajita, mango and pecan salad and coconut butternut squash. It’s always busy here, so be sure to book!

    and a brilliant new place called Pure and Raw in Leamington at 77 Regent Street. It has salads, vegan cheesecakes, juices and smoothies

    Drapers in Coventry city centre, behind the old cathedral, also has great vegan options on their menu. They also serve vegan desserts and have soy milk for teas and coffee!

    Just around the corner and opposite Playwrights is also a Pizza Express, set in a lovely stone building with wooden beams across the ceilings, and a nice outdoor seating area.

    For takeaway food Veggie Corner Chip Shop is a must! On Sandy Lane a few minutes drive from the city center. They have vegan fish and chips, battered sausages, pies, kebabs and cheesy chips among loads more!

    There’s Stonemonkey cafe in Leamington Spa which has a full vegetarian menu with a couple of vegan dishes.
    It’s located at 22 Binswood street and also has a cool yoga studio downstairs if you fancy shedding the pounds after the hearty veggie dishes!
