From Almond Butter Bites to warming dairy-free mac ‘n’ cheese, the veggie branch of popular takeaway chain Pret A Manger has plenty on offer for hungry vegans. First opened as a pop-up in London, Veggie Pret now has four branches, and this is the first in Manchester.

Winner of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival Restaurant of the Year Award in 2017, Bundobust built up its great reputation by offering south Indian–style small plates. The vegetarian restaurant has many vegan options – such as the idli sambhar, bhel puri, and popular vada pav.

If you ever find yourself in Manchester, you need to go to Folk & Soul for their vegan breakfast. This was oyster mushroom on toast with hollandaise sauce. It was so good I went back twice ✨

Go to Folk & Soul for the steamed vegetable dumplings, nachos served with tofu crème fraiche, or anything else at this 100 per cent vegan café-restaurant. The venue hosts a number of music nights and cultural events showcasing Manchester talent, which is a wonderful bonus.

Every Sunday, this local hotspot hosts The Vegan Hangover club, serving up everything a vegan could dream of. Pancakes, burgers, “cheesecake” … you’ll get it all between 3 and 10 pm.

For those who can’t quite make it out of bed on a Sunday, the Deaf Institute’s menu is 80 per cent vegan throughout the week, so swing by another day.

With its retro American diner feel and wide selection of vegan junk food (think juicy burgers, “cheesy” hotdogs and mouth-watering brownies), V Revolution in the Northern Quarter is a 100 per cent cruelty-free café, not to be missed.

This fully vegan restaurant is a must if you’re looking for a fine-dining experience. You can’t go wrong with the brilliant seven-course tasting menu, complete with a cheeseboard of cultured nut cheeses. Make sure to add a side of the famous Cauliflower Hot Wings while you’re there too.

This co-operative on Oxford Road is a one-stop shop for all things vegan. Stock up on ethical groceries and cleaning products upstairs, then head down to the café to feast on delicious soups, stews, smoothies and, of course, cakes!

Head to this café, tucked into a basement in the Northern Quarter, for cheap, cheerful and wholesome vegan food served buffet style. At around £7 for a plate laden with food, you really can’t go wrong!

This not-for-profit supermarket in Chorlton sells products only of non-animal origin, making it a great place to stock up on vegan groceries. Head to the deli section for fresh salads, homemade soup and sweet treats.
