Is Your Diet Causing Climate Change?

Climate change has been called humankind's greatest challenge and the world's most grave environmental threat, but what is the leading cause of our climate crisis? Is it lorries and 4x4s? No. Factories? No. Planes? No. These are the things that usually come to mind, but the leading cause of climate change might actually be on your dinner plate.

A recent United Nations report concluded that a global shift towards a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change. Greenhouse gases worsen climate change and could lead to catastrophic disasters such as droughts, floods, hurricanes, rising sea levels and disease outbreaks unless we drastically reduce emissions.

PETA's environmental video shows that the most effective way for individuals to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions – not to mention pollution and habitat destruction – is to switch to a vegetarian diet.
