Lewes, East Sussex – PETA is offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who shot and killed a brown feral pigeon with an arrow last weekend. The bird was found on Sunday afternoon to the rear of the Tesco store on Brooks Road with the 66-centimetre projectile lodged in his or her abdomen and had to be euthanised as a result of the injuries.

Would you please share this information with your audience to help apprehend those responsible for this cruel act?

“It is imperative that any community faced with the abuse of animals take measures to find the culprit or culprits and stop the violence”, says PETA spokesperson Ben Williamson. “Animal abusers are a danger to everyone – they take their issues out on whoever is available to them, human or non-human.”

History shows that past incidents involving cruelty to animals regularly appear in the records of serial rapists and murderers. Young killers Mary Bell, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables as well as serial murderers Ian Huntley, Thomas Hamilton (the Dunblane massacre), Fred West, Dennis Nilsen, Ian Brady and Raoul Moat all started out by deliberately harming animals.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Sussex Police on 101 quoting reference SXP-20130609-1099.
