Dairy-Free Slices From La Favorita Delivered Dished Up in Celebration of World Vegan Month

Photos of the event can be found here and here.

Edinburgh – Members of the Scottish Parliament were able to leave their lunch boxes at home today because PETA was on hand with free vegan cheese pizza from La Favorita Delivered, dished up by 24 year-old Glasgow native Jenna McGuinness, who wore a gown made entirely of lettuce leaves for the occasion. The event, which took place immediately after First Minister’s Questions, came at the start of World Vegan Month.

“PETA and I are eager to show everyone, from MSPs to everyday Edinburghers, how delicious and healthy vegan food can be”, McGuinness says. “November is World Vegan Month, so there’s never been a better time to try the delicious vegan meals on offer at so many of Edinburgh’s restaurants, including pizza, sushi, curry and more.”

La Favorita Delivered is the first Italian restaurant in Scotland to offer pizza topped with vegan cheese – the carefully sourced rice milk–based MozzaRisella. Demand for dairy-free products is on the rise: according to recent reports, one in five Brits now includes non-dairy milks in his or her weekly shopping trip, and research group Mintel has found that the market has increased by a staggering 155 per cent in the last two years. Choosing vegan snacks and meals is a great way to reduce the risk of suffering from heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity and cancer – and of course, each person who goes vegan saves more than 100 animals every year from daily suffering and a terrifying death.

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – offers free recipes and tips for going vegan on its website. For more information on adopting a vegan diet or to order a free vegan starter kit, please click here or visit

La Favorita Delivered is being personally backed by famous financier Jon Moulton who valued the business at £4m and is about to undertake fund raising through the entrepreneur’s crowd funding platform Investing Zone.
