Ramstein, Germany – What do buff Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and stunning British singing sensation Leona Lewis have in common? They are the reigning king and queen of PETA US’ annual Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest. Now PETA Europe has expanded its own contest to include people who aren’t world-famous yet – although they could be if they were to win – and 22-year-old Ramstein resident Angie Lau has beaten hundreds of entrants from across Europe to become one of the eight female finalists.

Angie is originally from sunny California but recently moved to Germany, where she is a model and a homemaker. She has always wanted to star in a PETA ad and once posed nude for a website. After learning about where food comes from, Angie and her twin sister went vegan, and she reports that after ditching dairy products, she dropped 15 pounds and no longer has health complications. Angie doesn’t see anything fashionable about wearing something which came from a living being. The best experience of her life was interning at Farm Sanctuary in the US, and she loves designing tattoos, running, cooking and feminism.

“On average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than meat-eaters are – and that makes them sexier too”, says PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc. “One look at our radiant line-up of sexy vegetarian finalists and it’s clear that they’re all winners.”

Following four rounds of head-to-head matchups, the winners – who will each spend a weekend in the beautiful Lake District courtesy of the Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel – will be announced on 2 April.
