Celebrity Projects Assistant (Intern)
PETA is offering a five-month paid internship position on its busy celebrity team, which is responsible for enlisting celebrity support and developing and maintaining strong relationships with high-profile individuals. This position would be ideal for anyone in the early stages of their career who is interested in animal rights and seeks experience in communications, marketing, or public or influencer relations.

Part-time (20 hours per week to be worked across three days)

Reports to:
Celebrity Relations Manager, PETA
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with enlisting high-profile support for the organisation and help maintain strong relationships with PETA’s celebrity supporters
- Work with colleagues to execute new celebrity and media projects and ideas
- Assist with special projects involving celebrities, including research, letter and script writing, photo shoots, and audio and video projects
- Send thank-you, birthday, or congratulatory notes and/or PETA merchandise to celebrity supporters
- Draft letters to celebrities who support industries or engage in acts that harm animals (e.g. wearing fur, buying animals from breeders, attending animal-based circuses, eating foie gras) informing them how their actions affect animals
- Assist with celebrity engagement on social media
- Stay informed about current events and celebrity news
- Keep thorough records of correspondence between PETA and celebrities
- Review various publications to determine celebrities’ sympathies and share findings with relevant colleagues
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of social media and an understanding of the type of content that will resonate with people online
- Thorough knowledge of the entertainment industry
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
- Exceptional verbal communication skills
- Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to compose and edit letters and engaging social media posts
- Excellent research skills
- Ability to take initiative and follow through
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to think creatively and come up with new ideas for promoting PETA’s core mission through its celebrity work
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
- Ability to handle confidential information with the required discretion
- Adherence to a vegan lifestyle strongly preferred
