Go Vegan, London: What Chickens Want You to Know About Your Takeaway
Update (27 June 2025): Bird Begs ‘Let Me Keep My Wings!’ in South London Bus Blitz
A baby chick is now travelling across South London with an urgent message: “Let Me Keep My Wings!” Our new campaign targets Croydon, Streatham, and Brixton – an area nicknamed “Chicken Valley” due to its saturation of fried chicken shops, including Morley’s, Wingstop, Popeyes, and Chicken Cottage.
By displaying this powerful image on double-decker buses amidst the fast-food frenzy, we’re encouraging Londoners to pause and consider the lives behind their meals. The chick’s plea is a poignant reminder that every takeaway is a decision, and choosing compassion saves lives.

Update (12 June 2025): Go Vegan, London: The Chicken Above Roosters Spot Has a Message
This week, passersby on South Lambeth Road were met with an unexpected sight: a towering chicken looming above Stockwell’s Roosters Spot. The striking display carried a profound message: it urges Londoners to consider the lives behind their meals and make the compassionate choice to go vegan.
Behind Every Takeaway
London is home to over 8,000 chicken shops, serving millions of chicken parts annually. But behind every takeaway box is a bird who lived a short, painful life. Chickens raised for meat are crammed into filthy, windowless sheds, denied the chance to express basic natural behaviours like dustbathing or nesting. At slaughterhouses, many are shackled upside down, have their throats slit, and are scalded in defeathering tanks, sometimes while still conscious.
Chickens Aren’t Food
Chickens are intelligent, social animals. They can recognise over 100 faces of their own species, see in full colour, and even dream during REM sleep – just like you. These birds are individuals with personalities, preferences, and the capacity to suffer.
Why Go Vegan?
Choosing vegan food isn’t just kind to animals, it’s good for your health and the planet. Each vegan person spares nearly 200 animals yearly, reduces their carbon footprint, and lowers their risk of heart disease, cancer, and other chronic illnesses.
