They are forced to stare at the same walls each day – the monotony and misery of their captivity is never-ending. Some will be denied the chance to reconnect with their families, and many will live in complete isolation.

Dear Official, I was devastated to learn that Morgan had given birth to another calf in the confines of Loro Parque marine park in Tenerife. Morgan, a young female orca currently being held captive at Loro Parque, gave birth in 2018 – even though, according to the Free Morgan Foundation, laws prohibit using her for breeding. In August 2021, her female calf died at Loro Parque, and now Morgan has given birth to a baby boy who will spend the rest of his life trapped in a tank, forced to perform degrading tricks for tourists. Morgan is highly social and has complex physical and psychological needs like all orcas. Confining her to a cramped, barren concrete tank with incompatible orcas – who have previously attacked her as a result of stress from their living conditions – is cruel and unjustifiable. Veterinary experts have observed numerous animal welfare issues at Loro Parque, such as orcas with damaged teeth, rake marks on their bodies, and signs of psychological distress. Morgan spends her days in a prison-like tank filled with chemically treated water and is forced to perform tricks for human entertainment. Please do everything possible to transfer Morgan and her baby to a coastal sanctuary.
