‘I’m ME, Not MEAT’: Pro-Lobster Billboards Hit Isle of Man Following Noel Edmonds Release
Douglas, Isle of Man – After TV presenter Noel Edmonds and his wife Liz made headlines freeing two lobsters from a tank on the Isle of Man, PETA has placed two billboards at the Douglas ferry terminal – which sees up to 97,000 passengers during August – reminding travellers that they too can help lobsters, by leaving them, and other animals off their plates.

“Lobsters have unique personalities, value their lives, and feel fear, joy and pain, just like we do, and they deserve better than to be boiled alive for a fleeting moment of taste,” says PETA Vice President Elisa Allen. “PETA encourages everyone to show kindness to these wonderful individuals by leaving them in peace, not pieces – and opting for delicious vegan foods instead.”
Lobsters are intelligent individuals who explore their surroundings, can remember other individual lobsters, and use complex signals to establish social relationships. UK law rightly recognises lobsters as sentient beings under the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022. A PETA US exposé of a crustacean slaughterhouse revealed that live lobsters were impaled, torn apart, and decapitated – even as their legs continued to move. Chefs typically place lobsters into pots of boiling water while they’re still conscious – a practice so cruel that it has been banned in Switzerland.
