Why Love One and Eat the Other? ‘Dog’ Barbecued at Jeremy Clarkson’s Pub
Have you ever wondered few people bat an eye at seeing the corpse of a pig being engulfed in flames on a barbecue, but would never dream of doing the same to a puppy?
That’s the hypocrisy TV farmer Jeremy Clarkson was forced to confront today as a PETA “chef” threw a “dog” on the barbecue outside the star’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog.
Designed to inspire thought for food, PETA drew a crowd as we ‘grilled’ a lifelike dog prop beneath a sign declaring, “Wouldn’t Eat the Farmer’s Dog? Why Eat a Pig? Go Vegan!”
Many of us are raised to mindlessly consider some animals ‘friends’ and some animals “food”, but when we really stop to think about it, a pig’s life is no less valuable than a puppy’s, and neither belong on our plates.

A Pig is a Dog Is a Boy
Just like dogs, pigs are playful, intelligent individuals who feel pain and fear, love their families, and value their own lives. They dream while they sleep and show empathy for other pigs who are happy or distressed.
Mother pigs even hum lullabies to their nursing piglets, just like new human mums do!
Despite this, pigs raised and killed for food in the UK are denied everything natural and important to them. They spend most of their lives confined to filthy, crowded sheds without room or joy, before being gassed to death in gas chambers.
Every rasher of bacon, leg of ham, and slice of lunch meat came from a young pig who died in pain and fear.

Clarkson Struggles with Speciesism
The dog barbecue isn’t the first time PETA has forced Clarkson to confront his moral inconsistency.
Previously, PETA gifted the vocally anti-vegan TV host a gruesome Christmassacre jumper, added a “Kids Book” starring screaming animals to his reading list, and sent a giant broccoli to ambush his tractor at Farm Fest.

Clarkson employs bluster when defending animal abuse, but deep down, we know it doesn’t sit well with him. He claims he’s ‘always been fond of pigs’ and has shed a tear when sending them to slaughter.
Will he put his morals where his mouth is and leave pigs off his plate?
Will you?
