PETA Joins Acharya Prashant for a Conversation on Compassion and Animals

Acharya Prashant is a bestselling author and philosopher whose message reaches millions around the world. During his recent visit to London, he sat down with PETA Foundation President, Mimi Bekhechi, for a wide-ranging conversation about animals, compassion, and the choices we make every day.

In the discussion, Mimi explains why animals deserve respect and consideration and explores how our treatment of other living beings reflects our values as individuals and as a society.

One of the central themes of the conversation was the idea that compassion should not stop with the animals who share our homes. Dogs and cats are widely loved and protected, yet billions of equally sensitive animals are raised and killed for food every year.

Recognising animals as individuals, rather than commodities, is an important step towards building a kinder world for everyone.

Throughout the conversation, Acharya and Mimi return to a simple but powerful idea: if animals are thinking, feeling individuals, then our actions should reflect that understanding. Compassion isn’t just a belief. It’s something we put into practice through the choices we make every day.

One of the most effective ways to align our actions with our values is to go vegan. By choosing animal-free foods and products, each of us can help spare animals immense suffering and show the same consideration to cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals that we readily extend to dogs and cats.
