Firefighters Who Saved Wolf from Canal Given Award
After a wolf was trapped in a canal in San Giovanni Lupatoto, near Verona in Italy, a squad of firefighters came to the rescue – which has earned the team a Hero to Animals award from PETA!
After bringing the animal back on land, the team – with the help of the regional police and veterinary services – sedated the young female wolf and handed her over to veterinarians for care, after which she will be released back into her natural habitat.

These firefighters came to the rescue when a desperate animal was struggling for her life – which embodies the spirit of care and protection that their profession stands for. We hope that this Hero to Animals award can remind everyone that all animals value their lives and want to live.
