Rabbits Are Used for Horrific LD50 Toxicity Tests

In an attempt to estimate the dose of a chemical that will kill 50% of the animals exposed to it, experimenters may apply it to the shaved skin of rabbits and other small animals, potentially causing tremors, convulsions, salivation, diarrhoea, lethargy, and coma. Sign our petition to the UK government calling for an end to these cruel tests.

Rabbits Are Poisoned and Killed in Tests for Cosmetics Ingredients

Pregnant rabbits are used in tests in which experimenters restrain them and force-feed them chemicals in order to see whether the substances will cause their babies to be born with abnormalities or even die. These mothers may suffer from convulsions, weight loss, and miscarriages. At the end of the pregnancy, they and their surviving unborn babies are killed. Please send a message to the European Commission (EC) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) demanding an end to such tests.

Farfetch Profits From Rabbits' Suffering

Following pressure from PETA – and after hearing from our compassionate supporters – Farfetch announced that its global online luxury fashion platform will be fur-free by 2020. It’s great progress, but the website still contains hundreds of items made from angora. Urge the company to stop allowing unscrupulous designers to sell angora on its site.

Etsy Allows the Sale of Rabbit Fur

Etsy allows its users to sell items made of real rabbit fur, despite hearing from PETA US that animals in the fur industry spend their entire lives confined to filthy cages before finally being beaten, electrocuted, gassed, or skinned alive. Items sold include rabbit-fur coats, scarves, trim, and other accessories. Please urge Etsy to stop its users from selling fur items.

Dolce & Gabbana Sells Fur From Tortured Rabbits

Orylag rabbits know only darkness and pain inside their cramped, filthy wire cages, where they’re left to suffer from sores, dehydration, malnutrition, and other injuries and ailments. Please call on Dolce & Gabbana to stop profiting from these animals’ misery.

Urge the Government to Commit to Ending All Experiments on Animals

Urge the Government to Commit to Ending All Experiments on Animals
To: Home Office; Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; and Department of Health and Social Care

Please commit to the EU's final goal of fully replacing the use of animals in scientific procedures to ensure that the UK is not left behind – in either animal-welfare standards or scientific innovation – in the wake of Brexit. Although EU Directive 2010/63/EU (the Directive) has been transposed into the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, the UK has not formally adopted the EU's ultimate goal of replacing the use of animals in scientific procedures, as reflected in Recital 10 of the Directive. We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the government take this official step immediately, establishing a clear policy within a legislative framework, mandating an end to experimentation on animals, and providing a clear strategy and timeline for achieving this goal. Redirecting funding away from unreliable and unethical tests on animals and instead investing in superior, non-animal methods will benefit humans, animals, and the future of science in the UK.

Yours sincerely,
