On the Menu – Vegan Options at Chain Restaurants

The increased demand for vegan options has opened up a new world of delicious animal-friendly dishes at restaurants, pubs, and fast-food chains. We’ve compiled our ultimate list of high-street vegan eats.

Bill’s Restaurant & Bar

Plant Plate, which includes vegan bacon and sausage, scrambled tofu, and baked beans or the Biscoff crumb, maple and banana pancakes. Dinner options include a Dirty Vegan Burger, Shitake Shawarma, Thai Green Veg Curry or Vegan Ruby Squash Salad with vegan feta and date molasses. Finish with the chocolate and salted caramel tart served with coconut ice cream.

BrewDog

BrewDog’s menu features impressive vegan burgers, including the Return Of The Veg, which boasts the brand’s own quinoa-crusted pumpkin and spinach patty, sweet and spicy onions, dragon mayonnaise, and crispy onion rings. Share a plate of their famous beer-battered cauliflower wings and choose between a variety of dips. The chain also has sausage and mash and a cooked breakfast that can be made vegan.

Brewers Fayre

Head straight in with the vegan burger in a brioche-style bun or the Thai green vegetable curry. The unlimited cooked breakfast includes vegan sausages, THIS Isn’t bacon rashers, and all the hash browns your heart desires. The indulgent chocolate fudge cake makes for the perfect dessert; just make sure you ask for the vegan version.

Burger King

Burger King’s popular Vegan Royale – a crispy “chicken” patty with lettuce and vegan mayo served in a toasted sesame seed bun goes down a treat with a side of fries. Also on the menu is the Plant-based Whopper: a flame-grilled vegan burger with tomatoes, lettuce, vegan mayo, pickles, and a swirl of ketchup. It’s cooked on the same grill as meat but vegan by ingredient, so no animals were harmed.

Caffè Nero

Tasty meat-free options at Caffè Nero include the mediterranean vegetable panini, mushroom and tomato ragu panini and a vegetable roll with flaky pastry. The chain also offers a selection of vegan snacks and sweet treats – we love the Plant Based Apple Crumble and Custard Tart – PETA’s Vegan Food Awards winner – and the Ginger Crumble Loaf.

Chiquito

This Mexican restaurant chain is taking vegan food to the Mex level. Its vegan menu includes paella with pulled jackfruit and vegan chorizo as well as flavour-packed enchiladas.
