ALAN CUMMING RECEIVES PETA US HUMANITARIAN AWARD

Actor Recognised at Pre–Valentine’s Day Bash for His Continued Efforts to Help Animals

London – Scottish actor and gay icon Alan Cumming was honoured on Sunday with PETA US’ Humanitarian Award for his outstanding animal-advocacy work.

Photos of the special pre–Valentine’s Day bash in Florida are available here and here.

Just last week, Cumming made a public appeal for Lolita – Miami Seaquarium’s lone orca – to be released into a coastal sanctuary. He previously starred in PETA US’ “Not a Dairy Queen” pride poster campaign advocating for plant-based treats and joined PETA in handing out free vegan ice cream at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, among many other compassionate actions.

“Alan Cumming’s wit, style, and determination have made him a tour de force in animal advocacy”, says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “As his legacy of campaigning shows, he’s not afraid to turn heads if it means inspiring others to make kind choices.”

Previous recipients of the award include Edie Falco, James Cromwell, Anjelica Huston, and Alicia Silverstone. For more information, please visit PETA.org.uk.
