Preston – As Preston is reportedly home to one of the unhealthiest city centers in the UK, PETA is giving residents some serious food for thought this Veganuary, courtesy of a larger-than-life chicken, urging viewers to make a kind, healthy change by going vegan.

“Eating meat, dairy and eggs is a disaster for animals and our health,” says PETA Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen. “PETA encourages Prestonians and people everywhere to protect their health, as well as animals, by choosing nutritious vegan meals. There’s no better time than Veganuary to give it a go.”

PETA notes that meat, eggs, and dairy contain no fibre and are loaded with artery-clogging saturated fat and cholesterol. Each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals every year and slashes their own risk of suffering from cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and other ailments. And, of course, they spare animals from a terrifying death at the slaughterhouse. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help those looking to make the switch.
