Where to Find Vegan Food in Kent

The vegan movement has exploded in Kent recently, as numerous new restaurants, cafés, and bakeries have opened their doors in 2017.

We’ve pulled together a list of some of our favourite places to find vegan food throughout the county.

The Monument

The Monument is Canterbury’s all-vegan pub offering local craft ales and proper pub grub, including burgers, kebabs, and tofish and chips.

Vegan Antics

With a selection of cakes, cookies, macaroons, and cupcakes as well as savoury sandwiches, Vegan Antics is the place to get your vegan treats in Gravesend.

Potato Tomato

Opened in August 2017, this 100 per cent vegan Whitstable eatery is open for lunch Thursday to Monday as well as dinner at the weekend.

Seaside Cake Parlour

This vegan Margate bakery sells cakes, waffles, and crepes as well as savoury bagels.

The Wallflower Café

This formerly vegetarian Herne Bay café went all-vegan at the beginning of 2017. Expect healthy dishes such as falafel plates, soups, and salads but also treats such as cakes and sundaes.

The Lady Luck

The Lady Luck is a rock and roll–themed pub in Canterbury that has a good selection of vegan dishes on its menu. It recently won a Vegan Sweet Treats award from PETA for its dairy-free ice cream sundae.

Ponga Foods at Drakes

Ponga Foods has taken up residency at this Maidstone pub to serve up a menu full of vegan goodness.

Beano’s Vegetarian Café Bar

This relaxed vegetarian restaurant in Folkestone has lots of vegan options. Dishes range from full breakfasts to pizzas and Mexican food.

At this café, located on the promenade in Margate, you can enjoy your vegan food whilst looking out at the view!

The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary and Café

The Retreat animal sanctuary has a vegan café on site, and it’s open Thursday to Sunday for lunch.

The Plant Base

The Plant Base, a healthy plant-based restaurant and juice bar in Tunbridge Wells, serves wholesome breakfasts, lunches, and smoothies.

Shakey Shakey Fish Bar

This Ramsgate fish and chip shop has a special vegan menu every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday offering tofish and chips among other fast-food options.
