Own Pepsi Stock? Here’s How You Can Help Bulls
Do you own shares of PepsiCo? If you do, your voice carries unique weight, and you have a powerful opportunity to help end the suffering of bulls used for Pepsi-branded drinks RIGHT now.
Bulls Are Suffering for Sugar
For over a year, PETA has been urging Pepsi to require its bottling partner’s sugar suppliers in India to replace old-fashioned bull-drawn carts with eco-friendly tractors. Yet, the company continues to source sugar from regions where handlers beat, whip, and force bulls to haul carts illegally overloaded with up to 8,000 pounds of sugarcane.
While one-third of the bulls in a key sugar-producing state have already been replaced by mechanized transport, many sugar suppliers still force thousands of bulls to work long, grueling hours under the blazing sun without rest or water.
Many suffer painful injuries, including swollen joints, muscle tears, infections, and bloody wounds from spiked weapons. Many collapse or die from exhaustion or poor health. Eco-friendly tractors not only eliminate this suffering but also provide a more reliable and efficient solution for workers since a single tractor can transport up to four times more sugarcane than a bull-drawn cart.
Shareholders Can Help Drive Change
If you own even a single share in PepsiCo, you can make a huge difference by telling the company that cruelty has no place in its supply chain.
All PepsiCo needs to do is commit to purchasing only “bull-free” sugar by requiring its suppliers to use eco-friendly tractors instead of forced bull labor.
This simple change would spare sensitive, emotional bulls from a lifetime of miserable exploitation AND create safer and better earning opportunities for workers and their families. It’s a win-win.
