‘Stop Eating to Extinction’: Vegan ‘Dinosaurs’ Charge Through Edinburgh
A pack of “dinosaurs” raised a ruckus on the streets of Edinburgh, marching down the Royal Mile and urging passersby to “Stop Eating to Extinction” and go vegan for the animals, the planet, and their health.

The action took place ahead of World Vegan Day, which falls on 1st November. We are urging members of the public to take our World Vegan Month Challenge and try vegan for 30 days this November!

Eating another animal’s flesh, eggs, and milk is positively prehistoric and totally cruel and unnecessary. We encourage everyone to leave these primitive eating habits in the past and evolve by embracing a kind and healthy vegan lifestyle.
Vegan for the Animals

Around 1.2 billion land animals are killed each year for food in the UK. Chickens are cramped into barns with up to a million other birds. Pigs are kept in crates that don’t allow them to turn around. And cows are forcibly impregnated repeatedly to make dairy, only to have their baby dragged away from them so humans can take their milk.
Animal Agriculture is Destroying the Planet

According to the United Nations, approximately one-third of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to food production, with the largest percentage originating from the meat and dairy industries. Animal agriculture is also a leading contributor to deforestation, species extinction, water use, and pollution.
The Health Benefits of Vegan Living
Vegans are considerably less likely to contract many of the main killer diseases in the UK: including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers. Processed red meat, like bacon, is classified as a group 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization, meaning it’s known to cause cancer, in this case prostate cancer.
Vegan Living Benefits Everyone
By going vegan, you could live longer, help our ailing planet, and spare 200 animals each year a life of suffering and a terrifying death. It really is a win-win.
Even if you enjoy the taste of animals, going vegan in 2025 couldn’t be easier – gone are the days of mandatory chickpea dinners and off-brand soya milk from the health food shop. You can find vegan versions of meats, milk, cheese, eggs, and pretty much every food you ate before going plant-based in shops and restaurants all over the country. They often taste the same or even better – but no cruelty is involved.
