Victory! Denmark Is Phasing Out Mink Fur Farming

Great news for mink: Denmark is finally turning its back on fur farming.

The Danish government has announced that mink farming for fur will be phased out by August 2029, another major blow to an industry built on animal suffering.

Once synonymous with mink fur production, Denmark is now joining the growing list of European countries legislating against this cruel trade.

Fur Farms Are Hell for Animals

Mink are curious, active animals who naturally range over large territories and spend much of their time exploring and swimming. On fur farms, they are condemned to life in cramped wire cages before being killed.

There is no justification for tormenting and killing animals for their fur.

Another Nail in the Fur Trade’s Coffin

Once the world’s largest producer of mink fur, Denmark will not seek an exemption from the upcoming EU ban. Its decision to ban mink farming represents another significant step in the European fur industry’s decline, and PETA and animal advocates around the world are saying skål to the demise of this cruel trade.

Denmark’s decision sends a clear message to the rest of the world: fur belongs in the past.

The Future Is Fur-Free

Denmark’s announcement is cause for celebration, but animals elsewhere are still suffering for fur.

Countries that continue to permit fur farming must follow Denmark’s lead and consign this cruel, outdated industry to history. And as long as fur remains on sale, compassionate consumers can help hasten its demise by refusing to buy or wear it.

No scarf, pompom, trim, or coat is worth an animal’s life.
