PETA is Urging King Charles to Go Vegan – Here’s Why
Ahead of the launch of King Charles’ new Amazon documentary Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision, on 6 February, which reflects publicly on the legacy he hopes to leave, PETA’s Founder Ingrid Newkirk has rushed a letter to the monarch, urging him to make the one change that scientists agree makes the biggest difference to an individual’s environmental footprint: eat vegan.
The Climate King

King Charles has been dubbed the ‘Climate King’ because of his environmental advocacy.
His website has an entire page dedicated to his sustainability history. Admirable steps he has taken to raise awareness of environmental issues include giving speeches on deforestation and plastic pollution.
But he hasn’t yet taken the step to a vegan diet.
Go Vegan for the Planet

If King Charles truly wants to leave the planet in a better, greener place, he must set an example for the nation and choose to go vegan.
Going vegan is the best thing we can do for the planet: reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75%, water use by 54%, and wildlife destruction by 66%.
The human appetite for flesh and other bits and pieces from cows, chickens, and the rest is condemning us to climate catastrophe. Given that dairy and meat provide just 32% of the UK’s calories and less than half our protein, decimating the Earth to torture living, feeling individuals while feeding them the plants we could eat ourselves is truly bonkers.
King Charles’ Vegan Legacy
Going vegan isn’t just the best thing for the planet, but animals as well. In the meat, egg, dairy, and fishing industries, cows are forcibly separated from their beloved calves, chickens’ throats are cut while they’re still conscious, piglets’ tails are docked without painkillers, and fish are cut open while they’re still alive.
Eating vegan lowers a person’s risk of developing heart disease and certain types of cancer and helps save the lives of nearly 200 animals each year. Factory farms are also breeding grounds for zoonotic diseases. Many experts believe that the next pandemic is almost inevitable because of animal agriculture.
