Rabbits Have Their Fur Ripped Out – Tell Dior to Stop Selling Angora!

Clothing brand Christian Dior sells angora despite the hundreds of other brands that have banned it and angora production being among the most abusive practices in fashion. Tell the company to stop selling rabbit fur.

Pinned Down, Screaming in Agony

Rabbits used for angora endure excruciating abuse: workers pin them down and yank out their hair as the animals scream in agony. Others are restrained and violently shorn, leaving them with painful cuts and wounds.

Cramped, Filthy Cages

When this isn’t happening, the rabbits are forced to live inside cramped, filthy cages where they’re deprived of everything natural and important to them. Years later, if they haven’t slowly died from injuries or illness, they are hung upside down, and their throats are slit.

With more than 500 well-known brands – including Balenciaga, Calvin Klein, H&M, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, and Valentino – having banned angora, any retailer still selling it is an outlier.

Dear Ms Arnault,

I was disappointed to learn that your company still sells angora, especially given that more than 500 major fashion brands have recognised the inherent cruelty and banned it. Angora comes from rabbits who are restrained while workers violently rip out their hair as they scream in pain and terror or shear them so roughly that they’re left cut and bleeding.

These animals spend their lives confined to small cages and endure repeated trauma every few months when workers pluck or shear their hair. Eventually, those who have survived years of this abuse are hung upside down, and their throats are slit.

No product is worth this suffering. With so many animal-free fibres available – like bamboo, TENCEL, hemp, and organic cotton – there’s no acceptable excuse to use angora. Hundreds of companies have already banned it, proving that compassion and innovation go hand in hand.

I urge you to stop selling angora. Until you do, I will be shopping elsewhere and supporting companies that refuse to profit from this cruelty.

Sincerely,
