Urge Lanolips to Drop Lanolin!
Skincare company Lanolips claims that the lanolin – a waxy substance found on sheep’s wool – used in its products is “humanely (and cruelty-free) sourced” from “happy” sheep. Yet mutilating and slaughtering sheep is anything but cruelty-free. Please urge the company to use vegan ingredients instead.

Humane Washing
Companies use this type of language (aka “humane washing”) to trick consumers into thinking the products they buy aren’t harming animals. The truth is that lanolin is always a product of cruelty to animals.
Lanolin Explained
The lanolin used in skincare products comes from sheep who were raised for their wool. By selling these products, Lanolips is supporting an industry in which sheep are mutilated, punched, and stomped on before their throats are slit. And the company is trying to market lanolin as “humanely (and cruelty-free) sourced”.
Better, Vegan Options Are Available
In addition to being cruel, the use of lanolin in skincare products is completely unnecessary. Shea butter, orange peel “wax”, and other vegan ingredients are super-moisturising and don’t support the violent wool industry.
Urge Lanolips to Cut Ties With Sheep Mutilation
Sheep and consumers deserve better – please urge Lanolips to remove all false claims from its website and switch to using only vegan ingredients.

I just discovered what lanolin is and how its commodification affects sheep. Lanolips must stop making false claims that lanolin is “humanely (and cruelty-free) sourced” from “happy” sheep. Wool and lanolin used in retail are always products of cruelty to animals, and I urge you to remove this misleading language immediately.
The wool industry, which extracts lanolin, is inherently violent and deadly. PETA entities have documented cruelty to sheep raised and killed for their wool at more than 150 operations on four continents (including multiple instances in Australia as well as in Argentina, Chile, England, New Zealand, Scotland, and the US). Every single case revealed horrific abuse. Workers punched sheep in the face, stomped on and stood on their necks, and violently sheared the fleece from their delicate skin – leaving the sheep with gaping, bleeding wounds that were crudely stitched up without painkillers.
Shea butter, orange peel “wax”, and other vegan ingredients replicate lanolin’s moisturising, hydrophobic, and viscous qualities without supporting the violent wool industry. I encourage you to use these products instead.
Abuse goes into each of your lanolin products. Given your commitment to ethics and morals and your belief that beauty products should be cruelty-free, I urge Lanolips to remove all false claims and switch to using only vegan ingredients.
Please use your position within the company to make these changes.
Sincerely,
