‘The Last of Us’ Star Bella Ramsey Is Standing Up for Animals and the Planet

The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey is all too familiar with the post-apocalyptic world – and with animal agriculture fueling the climate catastrophe and threatening a real-life doomsday, the actor is making a serious sartorial statement by appearing on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Sustainability Issue’ in a stylish vegan co-ord designed in collaboration with PETA to be as eco-friendly as it is kind to animals.

The earth-toned ensemble – expertly crafted from just one sample by London-based tailor Takudzwa Chigaduro – is made of 100 percent cotton, colored using a cruelty-free dye process, and features olive branch embroidery in a nod to Ramsey’s animal advocacy.

“The work PETA does is invaluable. They’re helping to create a world in which all creatures are treated with the kindness and respect they deserve.”

Why Wear Vegan?

Sheep grow depressed if isolated from their flock; cows develop friendships and mourn when a loved one dies or when they’re separated from each other; and water-loving minks can swim to depths of 50 feet underwater on just one breath. Yet in the fashion industry, these and other remarkable animals endure painful mutilations, intensive confinement in filthy conditions, and violent killing methods – including strangulation, electrocution, neck-breaking, and throat-slitting.

In addition to causing the suffering and deaths of billions of animals each year, the production of woolfurfeathers, and leather contributes to climate change, land devastation, pollution, and water contamination. Fortunately, there are more luxurious and eco-friendly vegan materials available today than ever before, including leathers made from fruit and wool crafted from hemp, bamboo, and linen.
