I’m a Fashion Author – Here are My Favourite Vegan Trainers to Buy in 2026
If there’s one wardrobe staple that is a true evergreen classic, it’s trainers. Just think of the versatility: they can add an edge to a pair of jeans, be paired with a maxi dress for a boho-chic appeal, or be dressed up with a sharp suit. The right pair of vegan trainers will effortlessly lend your wardrobe that undeniable cool factor.
As a vegan fashion expert and the author of cruelty-free fashion book Vegan Style, I am obsessed with finding ethically made, animal-free designs that look good and do good. Choosing trainers free from leather means that we are sparing cows from a life of factory farming – with extreme crowding, risk of diseases and painful mutilations – and a horrifying death at the abattoir. It also lowers our environmental impact: animal agriculture, notably cow farming, is among the main causes of the climate crisis, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, pollution of land, water, and soil, and biodiversity loss. A 2026 study found that the environmental impact of leather is 70% higher than previously thought.
Choosing leather made from plants means treading more lightly on the Earth while also protecting animals. Here are some designs I’m adding to my wish list this year.
