‘MEAT STINKS’ ADVERT COULD HELP REOPEN FARNCOMBE LOOS

PETA Offers to Help Save Public Toilets With Pro-Vegan Banner

Farncombe, Surrey – After hearing that the North Street public toilets in Farncombe were shut down because of council budget constraints, despite appeals from residents, PETA has written to Waverley Borough Council offering to pay a fee to hang a banner reading “Meat Stinks. Go Vegan.” on the outside of the building.

“While public toilets are often known for having quite a stench, it’s the meat industry that really stinks,” says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “PETA’s banner would remind Farncombe locals that the most powerful step that each one of us can take to improve our health and prevent animals from suffering is to go vegan.”

In addition to sparing countless animals daily suffering and a terrifying death in today’s industrialised meat, egg, and dairy industries, vegans are less likely to suffer from heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancer, and obesity than meat-eaters are. Plant-based meals are greener, too, because the meat industry is a major producer of the greenhouse-gas emissions that contribute to climate change.

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – offers a free vegan starter kit on its website, which contains recipes, tips on dining out, and more. The group’s letter to Waverley Borough Council is available here.
