GREGG SULKIN CUDDLES UP TO CANINE PAL IN PRO-ADOPTION AD FOR PETA

British Actor Urges Fans Not to Buy Animals While Thousands of Homeless Dogs and Cats Wait in Shelters

London – With his arm draped around his new four-legged friend, British actor and Marvel’s Runaways star Gregg Sulkin appears in a new PETA campaign that proclaims, “Adopt. Don’t Shop. Begin a Lifelong Friendship at Your Local Animal Shelter.”

In an accompanying video spot, Sulkin insists that there’s “no … better feeling” than opening up your heart to an animal in need. “[A]dopting is crucial,” he says. “[T]here are many dogs without a home … [and] who’ve been mistreated.”

The actor is currently a proud “uncle” to his friends’ pups, and he tells PETA that he plans to adopt one of his own in the new year. Gushing about his plans to become a dog dad, he says, “I think there’s a very special bond between a human and a dog …. So I’m excited to have that back in my life. … I grew up in a … very loving family, and so I think dogs should have that exact same experience.”

Every year, hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats end up in animal shelters, and many of them have to be euthanised simply because there aren’t enough good homes for them. Every time someone buys a kitten or a puppy from a breeder or a pet shop, a dog or a cat in a shelter loses his or her chance at finding a home.

That’s why Sulkin and PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way” – encourage anyone who’s thinking of adding an animal to their family to visit a local shelter or rescue group and not to give animals away as gifts.

Sulkin is part of a growing list of celebrities – including Bella Thorne, James McVey, Lucy Watson, Noah Cyrus, and Evanna Lynch – who’ve joined forces with PETA or its affiliates to promote kindness to animals.
