Eastern Vegan, Wawin Among PETA’s Top Chinese Takeaways
London – With the cold weather setting in, prompting cosy evenings at home, PETA has rounded up the top 10 Chinese takeaways for vegan food across the country – and eateries located everywhere from Belfast to Bristol have nabbed spots on the list.
The winners include all-vegan chain Wawin, which serves customers in Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, and York and dishes up a delightful Vegan Tiger Prawn Chow Mein as well as vegan versions of duck, lamb, chicken, and more; Noble House in Cardiff, which boasts expansive animal-free offerings, such as its Vegan Aromatic Seitan and an array of curries; Vegan Planet in Camden, whose standouts include savoury peking vegan duck and tangy Kung Pao Vegan Prawn dishes; and Eastern Vegan in Reading, which offers up everything from vegan chicken “legs” to a crispy vegan squid starter.

“These days, there’s an animal- and planet-friendly vegan version of every meal under the sun, so there’s really no excuse to opt for tired old fleshy fare,” says PETA Director of Vegan Corporate Projects Dawn Carr. “Every takeaway on PETA’s list is serving up innovative twists on classic Chinese dishes that are sure to please everyone, from die-hard vegans to sceptics alike.”
In today’s meat, egg, dairy, and fishing industries, piglets’ tails may be docked without painkillers, chickens’ throats are cut while they’re still conscious, cows are forcibly separated from their beloved calves, and fish are cut open while they’re still alive. PETA notes that vegan foods have a smaller carbon footprint, as the meat industry is a leading producer of the greenhouse gases that contribute to the climate catastrophe. Eating vegan also lowers a person’s risk of developing heart disease and cancer.
Rounding out PETA’s list are China Express in Belfast, Golden Dragon in Lincoln, Cheungs Vegan Kitchen in Bristol, Lucky House in Broadstairs, Golden City in Huntingdon, and Imperial Garden in Plymouth.
