KEMPSTON WOMAN IS A FINALIST IN PETA’S ‘HOTTEST VEGAN OVER 50’ COMPETITION

Contest Finalists Battle It Out for Top Honours and an All-Expenses-Paid Overnight Stay in the World’s First All-Vegan Luxury Hotel Suite

Kempston, Bedford – PETA has selected the 12 finalists in its inaugural 2019 UK and Ireland’s Hottest Vegan Over 50 Competition, and 57-year-old children’s book author Megan Rix has beaten out numerous other entrants from coast to coast to nab a spot on the list. Vegan for 10 years and a long-time friend to animals, Rix is also a karate champion and enjoys cooking vegan feasts with her husband.

“Megan Rix is a dedicated, compassionate hero for animals,” says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “All the finalists of PETA’s Hottest Vegan Over 50 Competition are true testaments to the vitality and joy that come from vegan eating.”

In addition to sparing the lives of nearly 200 animals every year, people who go vegan could very well be extending their own lives, too, as vegans are less prone to suffering from heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity and are, on average, fitter and trimmers than meat-eaters are.

The winner will receive a complimentary one-night stay for two people in the world’s first all-vegan hotel suite, inside the five-star Hilton London Bankside Hotel.

This year’s winner will be chosen based on several factors, including vote count, and will be announced by 12 August. See the full contest details here.

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – opposes speciesism, which is a human-supremacist worldview. The group offers a free vegan starter kit, available here, full of recipes, tips, and more.

Rix is available for interviews. For more information, please visit PETA.org.uk.
