Ashford, Kent – What do buff Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and stunning British singing sensation Leona Lewis have in common? They are the reigning king and queen of PETA US’ annual Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest. PETA Europe has expanded its own contest to include people who aren’t world-famous yet – although they could be if they win – and 25-year-old Kent resident Ben Loka beat out hundreds of entrants from across Europe to become a finalist.

Since going vegetarian four years ago, Ben has convinced more than 100 people to give up meat, including Steve-O from Jackass, who publicly declared that he went vegetarian after seeing one of Ben’s videos. Ben is also something of a “welebrity” on the internet, with more than 18,000 subscribers to his You Tube channel. When he’s not busy advocating a vegetarian lifestyle, Ben writes for a magazine and enjoys karate, writing music and comedy sketches, running and volunteering for a cow-protection scheme.

“On average, vegetarians are healthier and have more energy than meat-eaters are – and that makes them sexier too”, says PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc. “One look at our line-up of sexy vegetarian finalists and it’s clear that they’re all winners.”

Following four rounds of head-to-head matchups, the winners – who will each spend a weekend in the beautiful Lake District courtesy of the Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel – will be announced on 2 April.
